I ordered a couple of new parts for my big old heavy cat should have them next week

Holz Coil over rear suspension, should help with transfer
Maverick 162x16x2.25 track
Digitron DT54 with Jack shaft sensor (get clutching dialed)
Van Amburg tunnel extension and U-Coolers.
3" pitch drivers, anti stab kit and 162 rails.

Should have it down to around 515 when done with a 162 track.
I'll post pics as I make progress.

Already have a bunch of light weight parts pipes, front suspension, Boss seat etc....

Sounds like a good time.[:p] Keep us updated!

Won't be down to 515 until I'm done.
CTI Arms -8
Boss Seat -10
D&D Pipes & can -18
1M rear skid - 8
Misc. not required parts -4.5
Sway bar removal -4
Cutler Chrome-moly steering post -2
Its about 535-540 now

Stock cooler removal ( unknown reduction at this point)
Add for heavier track +7
Holz coil over -25 (only 16-20 on a 1M) but I am going to ditch my steel mounting brackets too.
Loose the air box -2 (tools in my back pack not much a a weight loss really) the sled is lighter almost same weight up the hill.

Started at 585, will weigh it when done. Should be in the ball park of 510- 520. Not to worried about it I think the skid and the EGT's are going to be the best mod, get it dialed in and hopefully a lot less transfer so it climbs even better.

Pat here are a couple. I have since ceramic coated the pipes and can but other than that it looked (took it all a part this weekend) like the pics. Note added the 1M skid in the jump pic no longer has green rails & orange skis, green skis natural skid.

Well, I have the thing all yarded apart in the garage waiting on more parts.
I have the coolers out drive shaft pipes etc....
Cooler and tunnel extension should be here wed. I think I may take thursday and friday off to put it back together.
routing EGT wiring is kinda a pain in my opinion you would think they would make the wires bullet proof, not warn you that they are fragile.
I'll take some pics of it tonight.

Was that on the Willow side or Palmer side of hatchrs? im from down in Willow, didnt relise there was that much snow up there!![:D]

BTW.. snowing down here tonight, must be DUMPING snow up on hatchers.

Looking good man[8D] Just a thought, what shocks are you running up front? If you're updating the rear you might as well make the front ride as good. Sometimes you'll notice a difference if one end isn't performing as well. That 162 ought to give you some pucker factor.haha

The pic of Hatchers is from last year. Wasn't much snow up there the last time we went 3' or so. We always go up the Willow side, Not as much bumpy trail to get to the riding.

Maybe I'll see you up there some day, Supposed to get 12-24" of snow In the Turnagain area over the next 24 hours.

Taking tomorrow off to put my sled together. Cooler & extension should be delivered this afternoon.

dont forget about the hood. there can be a huge weight loss. I put on a mountain fit hood and lost close to 20 lbs.

looks like it is coming along pretty darn good. hows the counterbalancer shaft bearings holding up?? with those pipes and heads and what ever else you got going on you should watch it.

Haven't had any oil issues, they had a problem in 99 when they built the 1000's motor but solved it prior to the 2000 model.
Don't know of anyone here that has had problems with the counterbalance shaft. I know a half a dozen guys who do or have run T Cats for 3500+ miles no problems at all.
Thanks for the input on the sled, can't wait to get it all done and put it back on snow.

Hey there, sounds like some wicked mods. I have a 2001 Mountain Cat 1000 with 2200 miles on with no engine problems, although it is stock except for v-force 3 reeds and MBRP silencer. I also just bought a 99 thundercat mtn cat that had 4500+ miles on it with no oiling problems(previous owner is riding buddy).

I recently went from 144' track to 162' track on my 2001 mcat and I found some weak points( in case you are interested). My 15 wide chain was 2 years old and promptly let go(Now I always carry a spare). Also I had to gear down, my secondary clutch was getting to hot and wouldn't work properly. It finally blew up.(So make sure your clutches are in good order)

Sorry to leave such a long message, but I am glad to see a fellow thundercat owner amidst the twin revolution. Mind you, my buddies M1000 does go pretty good! Mmmmmmm!

I'm with you oneLitre, New chain when I put it back together, 20/42 gearing and only 7 tooth drivers 2.27 effective 9 tooth 2.52 pitch gearing. (really low) should turn the big track without much trouble (I'm hoping) basically the same 19/43 gearing on 2.52 9 tooth drivers. Should still get me up to around the century mark at full shift out. Thanks for all the comments guys. I let you know after this weekend how it really works.

Took it to turnagain pass on Saturday the thing climbs way better than I was hoping. I was laying down marks on the hill no one who was there could touch. And that is all machine because I know there were way better riders than I trying. Haven't stopped grinning since. Even if its just for that one day its nice to put 6 marks in different places on different hills and ride all day and there still there when you leave. The low gearing keeps in 60mph track speed going up hill. I had to decide if I wanted to go there not if I could. (I am usually much more reserved in my opinions of myself and sled but I had a blast and it just plain works 100% better. I highly recommend the Holz suspension to anyone doing serious hill climbing it works great not much transfer at all.

Please don't take this as a shameless wow don't I have a cool sled, just really happy with the outcome, thanks for listening.

Shameless[V] Nah, j/k man, sounds like you had some really good results with the new parts. Makes a difference when you put some quality parts on an already good running machine. Glad to here it is working out for the better. Any riding pics??
